Students in Lewisham schools are enjoying a Young Producers’ Project with Charanga’s VIP Studio Sessions. Our very own Max Wheeler visited Conisborough College and Bonus Pastor School in September and will return this month to introduce hundreds of young people to music production and composition.
During the pandemic, a group of young singers, rappers and musicians came together to perform a track from Grown: A Grime Opera – a fantastic accomplishment given the circumstances.
Charanga’s VIP Studio Sessions has enabled UK secondary and international school students to make music for over seven years. This past winter was the busiest on record, and to celebrate the great music that was recorded by our users, we’ve created a new playlist.
Make Music Day (MMD), the annual celebration of music now running in 125 countries and over 1,000 cities, takes place on 21st June. As always, there are various ways that teachers, schools, young people, parents and carers can get involved.
Around 750 children and their families from primary schools across St Albans and Harpenden took part in the recent Sing St Albans project – the results of which can be seen in this fantastic video.
In these difficult times, having the best online materials is more important than ever. To help you, we want to give you some lovely FREE music resources to share with the children.
Over the past few weeks, the VIP Studio Sessions team has been running a musical advent calendar on social media, sharing every shortlisted track from our popular Lo-Fi Hip Hop competition. Today we’re excited to announce our winners.
Log in to VIP Studio Sessions and you’ll see that we’ve published new video resources in the platform’s Release and Promote section. They feature Aly Gillani, the UK/EU label rep for Bandcamp and A&R/Founder of First Word Records, who we were lucky enough to speak to this autumn.
Charanga has always been proud to play its part in helping to engage KS3 students with music. This year, we’ve had whole year groups producing beats, recording raps and honing their music creation skills at home using VIP Studio Sessions – even before the pandemic.
As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and teachers, we were so touched by It’s OK (Please Just Say) that we had to share it – with our teaching community and with anyone else to use in any way they choose, free until the end of this term.
