UK Nations

All four nations of the UK share a commitment to music education, yet each has its own cultural identity, heritage and approach to how music is delivered and assessed. This matters and shapes everything we do.

In response, we’ve developed tailored platforms and resources for each nation, built in partnership with national and local governments, education providers, and music services.

All of our UK platforms include a suite of creative tools, including scoring and notation software and accessible music-making applications. Together, these tools support students’ creativity, exploration, and musical development in and outside the classroom.

Every Charanga subscriber in the UK also receives personalised support and guidance, including in-person and online CPD, training, and technical support.

Teaching young children music with Charanga

England

Charanga’s configurable music teaching and learning platform has a strong track record in schools and music services across England, supporting Early Years, Primary, and Secondary schools, as well as those working in SEND and Alternative Provision settings. It’s designed to support the way teachers and practitioners actually work. Staff can create and securely share personalised lessons, units, and schemes alongside Charanga's own rich musical content.

Our partnerships with music services and music hubs across England mean that schools in many areas benefit from subsidised access to our platform and year-round CPD and training.

Scotland

Charanga Scotland is built around Scotland's Curriculum for Excellence and celebrates Scottish culture and heritage. Content ranges from Gaelic songs and traditional music to modern nursery songs, with highlights including tracks created with the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music (Sgoil Chiùil Na Gàidhealtachd), classroom project ideas, and a series of music projects for P6–7 students using YuStudio®, our online music studio for schools.

Our partnership with the RSNO, Scotland's national orchestra, enables us to help more young people experience the joy of live orchestral music. Charanga Scotland provides bespoke educational materials alongside the RSNO's most popular digital education resources.

Wales

Charanga Cymru was created in partnership with the National Music Service for Wales to support both the Welsh National Plan for Music Education and the Curriculum for Wales. Thanks to government funding, the bilingual platform is freely available to every Welsh school. Cultural partnerships with organisations including The Urdd, Sinfonia Cymru, and CânSing give all teachers, whatever their background, access to a rich and varied range of teaching resources, as well as a library of Curriculum for Wales Expressive Arts music resources for each Progression Step. Our National CPD and Training Manager for Wales is a native Welsh speaker, and both the Charanga Cymru platform and Yumu Cymru are available in Welsh, with the option to switch to English at any time.

Northern Ireland

Charanga partners with Education Authority (EA) Northern Ireland to bring our award-winning Musical School program to schools across the region. Working closely with the EA team, we're developing traditional Northern Irish music resources to sit alongside Charanga Northern Ireland's existing schemes and projects, ensuring they reflect the region's rich cultural heritage and support learning that feels genuinely local and relevant. Subsidised access to the platform makes high-quality music education more widely available across Northern Ireland. By lowering costs, the program supports greater participation, helps schools embed music more meaningfully, and gives every child the opportunity to develop their musical skills and creativity.
