Charanga Scoops Teach Primary Award for Creative Approaches to Teaching and Learning
Published: 10th November 2025
We’re delighted to announce that our Musical School program has been named the winner of the Foundation category at this year’s Teach Primary Awards.
Run by Teach Primary magazine, the Awards help teachers and practitioners find ‘the very best resources to support their KS1 and KS2 pupils – with quality determined by our panel of primary experts’.
Everything in one place
The panel described the program as a ‘comprehensive, creative curriculum resource’ with a ‘wealth of resources and subject knowledge support’. Free training is offered to subscribers to ensure all teachers feel confident in their music teaching.
With almost 70,000 teachers now using Musical School, the program continues to provide everything specialists and non-specialists need to deliver engaging music lessons, drawing together the practical skills of singing, playing, listening, improvising and composing.
‘Everything is included at a whole-school level, as a curriculum or music lead needs,’ said the judges. ‘All resources are included, including innovative video clips and presentations for teachers to easily teach the lessons.’
Our new Creative Music Scheme
The latest addition to Musical School is its Creative Music Scheme, designed to suit any teaching style or timetable, while making lessons enjoyable to teach. It offers a range of weekly activities and provides straightforward planning support.
The judges were impressed with how, unlike conventional Schemes, our industry-leading digital tools are built into every lesson to amplify every child’s creative voice, from Nursery through to Year 6. They noted that this approach ‘creates a curriculum where children can explore and create music with a relevant, modern-day approach, such as adding sound effects or creating their own digital music’ using our digital audio workstation (DAW), YuStudio®.
Championing inclusivity
‘Another aspect of this program that sets it apart from others, and makes it shine, is its totally inclusive, purposefully written SEND curriculum, which has been provided to be used in specialist settings, allowing everyone to access an adapted music curriculum. This curriculum can be used to meet the needs of all SEND children in specialist and mainstream schools.’
Everything Musical School provides reflects Charanga’s innovative, technology-enabled approach to music education – positioning schools as forward-thinking and unique, while enabling teachers to be creative in their music provision.
