7th November 2024

Charanga Cymru, the National Music Service’s digital music platform, has been upgraded. In response to users' feedback, we’ve added a wealth of new interactive resources, features and tools to the platform. Supporting documents and guides ensure teachers and students get the most from everything.

  • An expanded library of Curriculum for Wales resources for each Progression Step to support listening, singing, improvising, composing, and performing. Contrasting units explore music technology and instrumental learning.
  • An all-new Curriculum Builder tool allowing teachers to create a unique curriculum for their school using Charanga resources, their own units or a combination of both.
  • An upgraded Instruments section incorporating all FE resources and a new collection of 'All pieces' for each instrument so teachers can create their own lessons easily.
  • An expanded Celebrating Partnerships section showcasing culturally rich resources from Welsh musicians, curriculum specialists and partner organisations, including CânSing, Sinfonia Cymru and Trinity College London (Arts Award).

CânSing is pleased to be working in partnership with Charanga; we share a passion for ensuring all children and young people in Wales have access to high-quality music resources, and by working together, our materials and support will reach a wider audience.

– Suzanne Barnes, Director, CânSing.

Charanga Cymru is an exceptional music teaching resource that continues to evolve. Not everyone has the expertise and training to teach music in class confidently, but Charanga Cymru is suitable for everyone. We hope the platform and our local music services become integral to your school's musical life.

– Mari Lloyd Pritchard, Coordinator of the National Music Service for Wales
