E-safety: Using Charanga Music World
Charanga Music World is a safe, secure online space where children can explore music through quizzes, games and other interactive activities and, where appropriate, play their instrument. They are rewarded for the time they spend practising and learning with achievement badges and coins that they can spend customising an avatar. Charanga Music World can be accessed wherever the children can get online.
Usually the teacher will generate a username and password for the pupils and give them a letter which provides all the necessary login details.
Occasionally they will give the pupils a letter containing a ‘class token’ which they use, possibly with the help of their parents or carers, to create their own account. The pupil is then asked to enter the following information: school name, pupil’s first and last name, a username, password and confirmation, parent/carer’s email and confirmation.
To help support learning, teachers are able to see when their pupils last logged in, the number of coins they have and the overall time spent on the site.
Although teachers can share their own resources and lessons from the Charanga programmes as ‘Moon Missions’ for homework and practice activities, they cannot communicate directly with pupils, neither can the children with each other.
Charanga Music World can only be accessed through a secure login by both teachers and pupils.
For further support please contact email@example.com.
E-safety: Charanga Musical School Assessment Framework
This framework links Musical School teaching and learning to step-by-step assessment. It uses a PLAN • DO • CHECK • REVIEW approach and is supported by planning and assessment documentation, with the facility for teachers to upload and store digital evidence.
The digital evidence can be in the form of videos, photos, audio recordings and documents such as worksheets.
This data is not saved on the Charanga servers. It is sent to Amazon Web Services’ European infrastructure, where it is held securely according to ISO 27001 standards and complies with EU data protection standards.
The digital evidence can only be accessed by the pupils’ teacher and their colleagues at school using a secure login.
For further support please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
