Front-end Web Developer

Join our dev team of four (1 front-end, 1 application developer, 2 back-end), helping with the on-going development of our Musical School music-teaching product for schools, our VIP Studio Sessions website which helps young people create, produce and release music, and our Musikpartner programme for Danish and Norwegian schools.

We’re in the process of porting our audio resources from Flash to HTML5/web-audio, and we’re also looking at updating our PC and Mac offline desktop app, using a framework like Cordova. This will enable us to additionally support tablets as well as desktop platforms. So if this sounds like something you’d be interested in, then we’d definitely like to hear from you.


Required skills

  • Strong HTML/CSS, with an understanding of responsive design
  • Client-side JavaScript
  • Basic knowledge of Git

Desirable skills

  • Familiarity with web-audio API
  • Familiarity with Pixie JS
  • Familiarity with a CSS preprocessor like Sass, Less or SCSS

Allowance: 7.65 p/h

Digital Marketeer

As our Digital Marketing Intern we’d like you to reach our audience of teachers and Music Hubs by creating great content across a variety of channels. Reporting directly to the MD and General Manager your varied role would include:

  • creating, publishing and monitoring social media, emails and blogs
  • devising effective marketing and communication to prospective schools
  • managing Google analytics and ad words
  • co-ordinating new resource launch marketing such as reviews, press, ads, social media and product directory listings
  • engagement with online communities eg TES, Resources4schools, etc
  • responding to customer contact
  • assisting with website updates


This new role will be vital to increase the awareness and thus the success of Charanga. Our ideal candidate is someone who:

  • works well on their own initiative
  • finds multi tasking exciting rather than stressful
  • is easily able to come up with marketing initiatives and content
  • has excellent written English and strong communication skills
  • is proficient with social media, blog writing and email
  • has expertise in Google analytics and ad words
  • has a working knowledge of monitoring and metrics tools
  • has basic MS Office skills particularly Excel
  • basic knowledge of UK geography
  • has an interest in music and the education and local authority sector
  • has a sense of humour and a great work ethic

Allowance: 7.65 p/h
