Charanga are delighted to be exhibiting and presenting at the Music and Drama Education Expo 9-10 February 2017 at London Olympia.
With over 60 professional development sessions, spanning panel debates, Q&A’s, practical workshops and seminars it’s a chance to learn from award-winning teachers, pedagogues and practitioners. There will be presentations from some of the biggest names in arts education and the wider arts industry including two from Charanga.
On Thursday 9th Feb at 12.25pm, Charanga Director Mark Burke will be running a seminar in the Tech Theatre where you’ll be able to see modern ways to make whole-class ensemble teaching enjoyable and effective for you and the children. You’ll also see how teachers use simple technology to get their own resources online and how they can share them securely so children can continue learning online at home between lessons. He’ll be looking at how to dovetail instrumental teaching with the music curriculum at KS2 and look at some of the most popular resources across the Charanga community. This seminar will benefit instrumental and primary music teachers as well providing workforce development ideas for music service and hub senior management.
In a separate session on Friday 10th at 10.15am in the Tech Theatre, Charanga’s Max Wheeler – author of our secondary programme VIP Studio Sessions – will discuss the challenges facing teachers at KS3, KS4 and beyond in terms of engaging students, staying up to date and incorporating technology in a way that is stress free and exciting. He will look at how DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) such as Ableton Live can help to improve the range of performance and composition options for GCSE and A-level students, particularly for those who aren’t technically proficient on traditional acoustic instruments.
Network with up to 2,500 of your peers and discover cross-departmental tips and tricks from music and drama colleagues alike. Last year’s show saw representatives from over 40 countries in attendance – join the brightest minds in music and drama education all in one room.
