A new online Urban music resource to engage 12-18 year olds is due to be launched in September by Charanga with the aim that every young person can take part, so helping to reach young people otherwise not engaged.
Called the “VIP Sessions” (Vocals, Ideas, Production), the programme enables young people to create music in styles such as Hip Hop, Dubstep, Grime and Modern Pop music – and to do so without having to play an instrument.
Activities include rapping, beatmaking, contemporary songwriting, recording and can be done at school and at home in a safe online environment.
Ideas and compositions can easily be recorded, providing clear evidence of progression and achievement. Content and inspiration is provided by professional artists.
Schools receive a resource and CPD package.
