Resource information for Wider Opportunities co-ordinators
Flexible and useful resources
Our resources are based on what we’ve learnt from partner Music Services about the way that their teachers deliver Wider Opportunities. All the resources exist as stand-alone items that you can configure and put into lessons exactly as you wish. Really quickly you’ll find that you’ve built up a bank of interactive resources to support entire schemes of work, and that using them in the classroom is both straightforward for you and hugely enjoyable for your students.
Easy to get into the classroom
We know that IT resources aren’t always available in every Wider Opportunities room. But more and more we’re finding that schools are more than happy to make interactive whiteboards or projectors available for the sessions - because it increases the lesson’s effectiveness and helps schools meet targets for use of ICT. You don’t need to be online to use the resources. You can simply go onto your eLearning site before the lesson, download what you need and take it into school on a memory stick to plug into their equipment.
A great way to share resources with class teachers
DCFS aspirations for participation are demanding, and engaging the class teacher and providing eLearning support for to them to work with students between your sessions is crucial. With their own login, the teacher can see your Music Service resources and use them in the classroom, reinforcing the value of your service. It helps teachers when you’re not there, and it keeps your resources in use even when you’re not in the room.
